The team from Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle Dealer group, Rygor Commercials was out and about last month visiting local schools to promote the importance of being safe and vigilant when walking to and from school.
School children in Westbury, Trowbridge and Swindon enjoyed an informative assembly presented by Rygor truck training manager, Chris Moore and were given advice on how to be a ‘good pedestrian’, the Green Cross Code and truck safety.
There was a lively atmosphere in the classroom with plenty of questions asked by the children and engaging, educational videos adding lighter notes to a serious message. To conclude their truck safety lesson each child received a reflective wristband, designed to keep them ‘seen and safe’.
Chris said: “It is so important to the team at Rygor to work with the local community and to give back to those around us. Road safety and awareness must start at an early age, which is why we wanted to visit some of the schools local to our branches across the UK to discuss the importance of being safe and seen when out, particularly as winter is nearly upon us and the days are getting shorter. Trucks are exceptional vehicles and the Mercedes-Benz product has a fantastic array of safety features, but it is still important for other road users and pedestrians to be aware and alert when out and about.”
Olly aged 9 said: “You can’t see as much from a truck as you can from a car. I’ll be safer crossing the road now. I liked the videos that we watched, and I learned a lot today.”
Class teacher, Miss Pearson, said: “The children really loved learning more about road-safety, especially after the exposure to the truck. They are still talking about the posters that they created linked to the visit!”
With 11 branches throughout Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Somerset, West London, Wiltshire and Worcestershire, Rygor are a multi award winning specialist Mercedes-Benz van and truck Dealership.
