In what has been a challenging past 12 months for businesses and individuals across the world, Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealer Group, Rygor, has remained committed to recognising the hard work and dedication of its team members.
The award-winning company held its inaugural internal Setting Standards awards back in January 2019 to recognise the efforts of those team members who strive to be at the forefront of the industry, who support their colleagues and are dedicated to keeping customers on the road. Since then, the company has held the awards every January, with the winners attending a day-time ceremony and meal.
Tim Stacey, Rygor managing director, said: “Of course this year’s celebrations have had to look a little different from that of our previous awards, but as a business, we felt it was still essential to take the time to recognise the incredible, hard work and determination of our team. Where we obviously could not hold a physical event this year, all our amazing winners have received a trophy and a luxury hamper to say, ‘congratulations’ and ‘thank you’. At Rygor we are always committed to rewarding and recognising our team, regardless of the current pandemic, but looking at how our team members have stepped up and have been so positive and committed over the past year, has made me and my fellow business owners extremely proud. As business leaders, we cannot thank them enough for everything they do, day in, day out.”
With a range of award categories, from sales team member of the year, to team player of the year, the business gives its team the opportunity to nominate colleagues, with the winners being selected from the nominations, by the Board. This year, Rygor colleagues nominated in their droves and 47 winners were chosen for the 2020-2021 awards.
Tim continued: “This year we were delighted to be able to choose so many winners, for the awards; individuals who have really shone during difficult times. It’s been a real pleasure and a highlight of the past few months to be able to recognise our incredible team’s hard work.”In what has been a challenging past 12 months for businesses and individuals across the world, Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealer Group, Rygor, has remained committed to recognising the hard work and dedication of its team members.

Rachael Page, Rygor service advisor, was one of the winners in the Service Team Member of the Year category. Rachael said: “Winning is a great achievement, which is helped by the team I work with. I am really honoured to receive this award and want to thank the Board for the opportunities I have always been given working for Rygor.”
Helen Wyatt, finance manager at Rygor and a winner of the company’s ‘Behind the Scenes’ award, said: “I was chuffed to bits to receive a Behind the Scenes Award. Having been part of the Rygor team for 22 years, it is still nice to know you are doing something right and not just part of the furniture! I am proud to be part of Rygor and this award was the icing on the cake. Thank you.”
Chris Baker, service manager at Rygor’s recently opened Heathrow Truck Centre, was one of the company’s Service Manager of the Year winners. Chris said: “I am happy and proud to be nominated for the award, let alone win, after only making the step up [to service manager] in September. Honestly, it’s credit to the whole team here. Without them it wouldn’t be possible for me to do my job. Ross, our workshop supervisor (who also won a well-deserved award) has really stepped up too, to assist me with the transition from workshop manager to service manager. Even through the COVID-19 pandemic we have been able to hit the ground running as a site and delivered some really positive results, whilst continuing to provide excellent customer service. It makes me proud to be part of a team that is happy to go above and beyond to deliver customer expectations and business requirements. The support that I have had from Sean Joyce [newly appointed Rygor service director] cannot go unmentioned. The mentoring I have had has developed me through two different job roles in the business and now has given me the opportunity and the ability to run my own site. I am very proud to be part of such a brilliant business and I am lucky to work with such an amazing team of people.”
Rygor’s internal team awards come off the back of an award-winning end to 2020 for the company, having been announced as Van Dealer of the Year at the 2021 What Van? Awards and with two of its team members receiving accolades from Mercedes-Benz Vans UK at its virtual Van Stars awards in December.
