Rygor Commercials Achieves the Great Place to Work Certification

Award-winning commercial vehicle dealer group, Rygor Commercials has announced that it has achieved Great Place to Work Certification for 2022-2023.

The multi-franchised business received a 79% aggregate score from its team members which significantly surpassed the certification pass mark.

The TRUST INDEX© survey from Great Places to Work, invites employees to respond to 60 core statements, which are asked consistently of all organisations taking part in the initiative. These statements look at a variety of key areas of employee engagement and company culture, including collaboration, justice, communication, teamwork, credibility, engagement, innovation, leadership behaviour and hospitality.

Rygor service director, Sean Joyce, said: “I am so proud that Rygor has achieved this certification. It demonstrates the business’ focus on employee wellbeing, engagement and company culture. Some of our top-scoring statements were around team members feeling comfortable and confident to be themselves here at Rygor. 92% of the team said that when you join the company you are made to feel welcome and 86% of our team felt that they really make a difference and feel a sense of pride in working here. It has been incredible to get this positive feedback and to see what this result means to our team members across the business,” Joyce added.

Neil Cook, service manager at Rygor’s Kidderminster branch, said: “It is a wonderful accolade for the Team at Rygor, to be recognised as a Great Place to Work. Our people are at the heart of what we do; we inspire each other to provide a great service and to set high standards, but also to work together to overcome challenges and to become stronger. All of this is built on our strong belief in and trust in each other, our business ethos, our values and having the freedom to deliver them. Being recognised as a Great Place to Work brings a great sense of pride to our employees. We are always stronger together and this gives us the foundation to do great things as a team. Being part of a wonderful team brings unity and confidence, and it also makes us a desirable business to work for, strong in retention, development, and evolution.”

Achieving certification in the first year of entry is a huge achievement for a business, but the Rygor Board isn’t just focusing on the great scores it has achieved from the Great Places to Work survey.

“Although we are obviously delighted to have achieved this certification and be in the running to be considered for the 2023 Best Workplaces list, what is most importance to us is what we can learn from our team’s feedback,” Joyce said. “We went into this process with the objective to listen and learn from our team. In addition to our annual in-house pulse surveys, virtual team coffee breaks and online ‘suggestion box’ the Great Places to Work survey gave us another opportunity to see what our team feels we do well as a business and where we can enhance our employees’ experience. After we received the fantastic results, myself and other Rygor directors attended a debrief meeting with Great Places to Work, to understand the areas we can improve on, and are already taking actions to further enhance what we do here at Rygor. I am incredibly excited for the next 12 months where we will continue to enhance our company culture in light of the feedback from this survey,” Joyce added.

This certification is another example of how Rygor is making strides in its employee experience and engagement, having also been confirmed as finalists at the 2022 Institute of Internal Communications Awards (Best Employee Experience Campaign) and has been shortlisted in the Employer of the Year and EV Retailer of the Year categories at this year’s Motor Trader Awards.
