International Women's Day 2024 Spotlight: Kate Ruberry-Shoemack

As part of celebrating this year’s International Woman’s Day, we’d like to celebrate our Director of People & Communications, Kate Ruberry-Shoemack.

Kate has been with the Rygor business since 2013 and was shortlisted for the Barbara Cox Woman of the Year award in 2023. We chatted with Kate about International Women's Day 2024 and working with inspirational women throughout the Rygor Group.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m Kate, Director of People & Communication at Rygor Group. I have been with the business more than a decade and this year joined the Board of Directors. I am a mum to an energetic toddler; she is my greatest achievement and I hope to make her proud everyday…even when I tell her she cannot have another biscuit!

Which women inspire you the most?

I feel so fortunate that I have some of the most incredible women around me, and my daughter. My closest friends, my niece, my sister, my team members are all such strong, kind and inspiring women who empower me and lift me up each and every day. I only hope I do that for them as well.

How do you inspire your colleagues around you?

I love working with my team and my colleagues across the company to help them learn and develop – helping them find that confidence that is already within, but I don’t know about you, is sometimes hiding – for me that’s true, anyway! We have the most incredible team members at Rygor Group and the support they showed me when I moved into this role, was overwhelming – they inspire me every day.

This year's IWD theme is #inspireinclusion, what does this mean to you?

Diversity and the empowerment of everyone is so important, and for me that is about helping create a working environment where all women feel valued and have space to grow and the confidence to be themselves. Women in automotive is one of our key focus areas of our DEI&B strategy at Rygor Group and we will continue to develop and progress in this area.
