Rygor Commercials Named on UK’s Best Workplace List 2023

The team at multi-award-winning commercial vehicle dealer group, Rygor Commercials, is delighted to announce that the business has been named on the UK’s Best Workplaces List (large companies) for 2023. This prestigious accolade follows Rygor Commercials’ inclusion on the UK’s Best Workplaces for Wellbeing list in February this year, awarded as a result of feedback from team members about how the business supports their overall health and wellbeing, both inside and outside the workplace.

Rygor Commercials’ official certification from Great Places to Work and its confirmation as one of the UKs Best Workplaces is as a direct result of employee feedback, through the TRUST INDEX© survey. The survey asked Team Rygor to respond to 60 core statements, which are asked consistently of all organisations taking part in the initiative across the UK. These statements look at a variety of key areas of employee engagement and company culture, including collaboration, justice, communication, teamwork, credibility, engagement, innovation, leadership behaviour and hospitality. Overwhelmingly, Rygor Commercials’ team members advocated the ways the business tries to do its very best to provide the things that ensure they are happy and fulfilled at work.

Achieving certification from Great Places to Work, being named as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Wellbeing, and being officially awarded the title of one of the UKs Best Workplaces in the first year of entry are all huge achievements for Rygor Commercials, which is a business that continues to go from strength to strength. Following its MBO in November 2022, Rygor Group’s new owners, John Keogh and Rish Channa, started working with their senior leadership team and external consultants, implementing a thoughtful systemic strategy based on the company’s core values of Rewarding, Reliable and Respectful.

Rygor Group’s managing director, John Keogh, said: “I am so proud that Rygor Commercials has been recognised as one of the best places to work in the UK. Winning this award demonstrates the business’ focus on employee wellbeing, engagement, and company culture, and these are all things that we are looking forward to building on even further in the future. We put our customers and our team members at the heart of every decision we make, and Rygor Group’s next chapter is shaping up to be incredibly exciting. Our team is key in the next phase of our business’ growth and we’re looking forward to working with them, to drive Rygor Group forward to even more successes. Most importantly, we’re dedicated to continuing to provide exceptional customer-focused solutions, products and services, and our amazing team is key to this. This award truly belongs to our team members, and we’re delighted to have them recognised in this way.”

Rygor Group’s commercial director, Rish Channa, said: “A place in the 2023 UK Best Workplaces list is a huge achievement, but what is always most important to us is what we can learn from our team’s feedback. Both John and I have each been in the Rygor business for more than a decade, so when we took over as owners in November, our objective was continuing to listen to and learn from our team members. The future is set to be even more exciting and rewarding for our business and for our team, as we have already taken actions to further enhance what we do. In addition to our Mercedes-Benz, Rygor MAXUS and Higer franchises through Rygor Commercials, Rygor Group is currently launching its newest arm of the business; APEX, to provide additional van solutions, full bodybuilding capability and in time, bespoke finance solutions for our customers. It’s a truly ground-breaking time at Rygor Group, so we’re thrilled that our team has told us they love working here and we look forward to making further strides as a business, working together to provide the very best service for our customers.”

Kate Ruberry-Shoemack, head of people & communications at Rygor Commercials, said: “Our fantastic team is the reason Rygor Commercials is award winning, so we’re always looking at more ways we can support them to be the best they can be. Whether it’s through our robust wellness programme, our in-house training platform, the huge range of team benefits we offer, or saying “well done and thank you” through our reward and recognition programme, we live by our company core values: Rewarding, Reliable and Respectful. We are committed to developing and supporting our team and in particular, we want to be an inclusive business, where our team members feel a sense of belonging. We have just announced our DEI&B strategic plan for the next five years, which includes focus on gender equity, and we’re trying hard to ensure everyone has the opportunity they need to thrive working here. We’ve recently enhanced our maternity and flexible working policies, provided dedicated menopause training, introduced our menopause policy and miscarriage bereavement policy. We provided period dignity boxes at our sites, and we are looking at more ways to encourage women to join the commercial vehicle industry as a viable and valuable first career choice. We recognise that being a Great Place to Work isn’t just about ‘ticking boxes’ and we understand that to be the best in the industry, we have to continue to do the best we can for the amazing team members already working for Rygor, and those who will join our team in the future.”

Rygor Commercials has also been confirmed as finalists at the 2023 Internal Communications & Engagement Awards (Best Communication of Change or Business Transformation, Best Ongoing Commitment to Internal Communications, and Internal Communicator of the Year) shortlisted in the Dealer Group of the Year (10+ sites) category at this year’s AM Awards and the company’s head of people and communications was ‘Highly Commended’ for the 2023 Barbara Cox: Women in Automotive Award.
