Team Rygor’s ‘Peak’ Performance for Charities of the Year

The team at local Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealer Group, Rygor, recently undertook the epic National Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for its employee-nominated, Charities of the Year.

Rygor’s Charities of the Year initiative was set up to enable the company’s team members to nominate and vote to support charities which benefit some of the local communities which the company calls home. James Hopkins Trust is located just a stone’s throw from the site of Rygor’s flagship branch in Gloucester, Dorothy House Hospice Care and Bath Cats and Dogs Home, both BANES, Wiltshire and Somerset-based, are local to the company’s headquarters in Westbury.

A group of 11 Rygor team members and their family and friends came together to embark on this impressive challenge, along with the help of five drivers to transport them between the mountains.

It was the team’s aim to climb Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the Lake District and Snowdon in Wales, one after the other and ideally within 24 hours - no mean feat! The weather was certainly against the team and it was no doubt an incredibly tough challenge.

Jeremy Price, Fleet Sales Manager at Rygor who took part in the challenge, said: “It was great to see our team come together and support each other in this challenge, in a bid to raise money for our Charities of the Year. Whether they drove or completed two, or all three mountains, the effort and determination each of our team showed was fantastic.”

To date the team has raised in excess of £1,300 from this challenge, which will go towards their annual target of £6,000.

Zena Jones, fundraiser at Bath Cats and Dogs Home, said: “The Rygor team who took on the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for the animals in our care are truly amazing! We can’t thank them enough, not only did they climb some of the toughest Peaks they also raised over £1,000 which will rescue, rehabilitate and rehome vulnerable animals. We hope they are fully rested and recovered after their huge achievement!”

Henrietta Beard, corporate and major donor fundraiser at Dorothy House Hospice Care, said: “Once again, the dynamic team from Rygor has risen to the challenge of supporting Dorothy House Hospice Care in an ambitious and physically challenging way. Huge congratulations and thank you to everyone who took part. Rygor’s on-going support is very much appreciated as the hospice aims to continue to deliver excellence in end of life care to the community in our 700 sq mile region.”

Sarah James, head of fundraising, at James Hopkins Trust, said: “The support we have received from Team Rygor has been exceptional, they are a company who really care for the communities they work in.
