Your Role

This role is about creating a centre of technical competency within the business to optimise service quality and the customer experience. Positively affect the site’s quality output, MOT, Warranty and R&M performance by identifying and acting upon training, equipment, process and product issue reporting.

Day to day, you will:

  • Work with Technicians to develop and improve diagnosis within the dealership.
  • Ensure the workshops and technical team follow and adhere to all quality, safety and compliance policies.
  • Create/endorse a working environment with encourages the highlight of workshop and compliance issues to the safety and benefit of the team and customer.
  • Manage and repair complex technical/diagnosis issues from start to finish.
  • Organise and monitor technical training and qualifications.
  • Organise log and monitor special tools within the dealership.
  • Ensure that quality control inspection processes are achieved.
  • Ensure that workshop BER standards are achieved.
  • Improve workshop efficiency in all aspects of workshop repair operations.
  • Oversee and manage technician PDPs to ensure growth and development.
  • Principle liaison with MBUK on all technical issues, including any customer complaints escalated to MBUK.
  • Confirmation of site compliance of BER tooling and equipment to the latest requirement.
  • Marking and allocation/categorise of new or extra tools.
  • Upkeep of tools and tool room.
  • Regular and consistent quality control inspection process for all completed vehicles, to a minimum of 10% throughput.
  • Understanding and compliance of the requirement of quality checks for the manufacturer, to allow the Dealer to maintain quality standards.
  • Monitor MOT inspection performance and compliance of quality to achieve 100% pass rate, to include MOT lane pre check and random MOT lane walk through.
  • To be actively involved with the site audits carried out internally, with engagement of fault rectification and site upkeep.
  • Evaluate all Technicians on ability and capability. Request PDP training in line with requirements of the Technician and the business and meet the manufacture criteria.
  • Book relevant courses after confirmation, liaise with central team on travel and accommodation.

This role will be a great fit for you if:

  • Previous working experience as a HGV/Van Technician with a strong technical background.
  • Previous work as a Diagnostic Technician or progressing as a Systems Technician.
