Parts Department

Key Purpose of the job

To meet and exceed customer expectations and maximise parts department profitability, whilst ensuring all company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.

Accountabilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service, to ensure customer satisfaction and meet customer expectations (CSI)
  • Ensure the accurate and timely execution of all activities, providing a service to customers and the Service Department.
  • Check GDPR preferences and record customer details in Kerridge/Autoline, to help the business provide exemplary service and communication to our customers.
  • Play a significant role in helping your colleagues achieve team and departmental targets and goals.
  • To strive for continuous improvement, demonstrating operational efficiency of your duties.
  • Promotion of parts sales and up-selling (including relevant parts marketing campaigns and discounts) to achieve company parts sales targets as well as individual KPIs.
  • Accurate invoicing, including gaining correct customer order numbers, to minimise queries
  • Cash handling, till reconciliation and banking as necessary
  • To manage and control to ensure 30-day WIP policy
  • Control and manage workshop WIP by working together with the service department
  • Prompt and accurate supply of parts to the workshop
  • Professionally handle any customer complaints and escalate as necessary
  • Promote a clean, safe and tidy working environment
  • To create a positive working environment to achieve all departmental business objectives at your site (working with colleagues in other departments)

Key purpose of the job

To develop both new and existing service and parts business to enable aftersales financial targets to be achieved

To ensure that all company policies and procedures applicable to their area of responsibility are always adhered to.

Accountabilities

  • Develop service & parts business within a predetermined territory, identifying new business opportunities and promoting the company’s products and services in respect of parts
  • Undertake a regular visit programme to all existing account holders in order to maximise sales, producing daily call sheets in respect of all calls made
  • Achieve service & parts sales targets and promote any special promotions or sales incentives as required, recommending special incentives or promotions in respect of customer accounts in order to maximise sales or address shortfalls against sales targets
  • Obtain necessary customer details in order for credit references to be taken up and new accounts to be opened resolving any queries with customers as required
  • Ensure that the image and levels of customer service is in line with both company and franchiser standards
  • Ensure that all customer complaints are dealt with both speedily and effectively, referring any unresolved problems are referred to the Parts Manager
  • Ensure that within their area of operation all Company and Trade Associations policies, procedures and minimum standards are met and that all statutory requirements including trading standards, fire, health and safety are adhered to
  • Handle all internal and external customers and suppliers with courtesy and ensure the Mercedes-Benz experience is always delivered to all contacts.
  • Actively engage in the manufacturers strategic custom development plans to demonstrate strategic visits to key accounts, lapsed and new business
  • Complete all engagement requirements to achieve bonus payments from the manufacturer for the business

Skills and experience required 

  • Clean driving licence
  • Previous automotive aftersales sales experience
  • Thorough knowledge of all department products and services and local area
