What is the recall?
TK Holdings, Inc. ("Takata") has informed
Mercedes-Benz AG that specific climatic conditions may, over time, cause a
chemical change in the propellant in the airbag inflator of certain Takata
airbags. In the event of an accident in which the airbag is deployed, this
change could cause the airbag inflator to burst due to increased internal
pressure. In this case, the airbag would not provide any restraint effect and
the vehicle occupants would be at a risk of injury due to separating parts of the
airbag inflator.
How do I know if my vehicle has an outstanding recall?
Using your vehicle registration or 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN) we're able to determine if there is an outstanding safety recall on your vehicle.
Where can I find my 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN)?
This can be found at the lower passenger side of the windscreen from the exterior of the vehicle. It can also be found in the V5 registration document of the vehicle.
Is there any charge for the cost of repairs on the recall?
As part of this recall, we will replace the front driver
airbag on your vehicle. This will take approximately half an hour to complete
and will be carried out free of charge
