White Horse Walk Raises Funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance
Rygor Commercials of Westbury and Rocking Horse Nursery in Melksham are delighted at the fantastic level of support shown for the inaugural White Horse Walk, which took place on Saturday 21st September.
The 65 walkers who took part in the charity event could not have asked for a more glorious autumn day to complete the 13-mile circular route, raising funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
The day started energetically at Blackland Health Club and Camping site, as a walk-themed warm-up session set the tone for the rest of the day. After limbering up to the sounds of The Proclaimers and Katrina and the Waves (spot the theme), the participants ambled, strode and in some cases ran through stunning Wiltshire countryside.
The light-hearted atmosphere continued at the Finish line as the walkers enjoyed a celebratory BBQ, provided by The Rapid Relief Team, a global charity that provides care and compassion to those in need and, as all facilities and services were organised on a no-fee basis, Wiltshire Air Ambulance will receive the maximum donations possible. So far this year, the White Horse Walk has raised £3000 to help keep Wiltshire Air Ambulance flying for the people of Wiltshire and the surrounding areas, and exciting plans for the 2020 fundraising event are already underway.
Graham Drake, owner director at Rygor, said: “Rygor has been involved with the White Horse Challenge for the past 15 years, so it has been exciting to evolve the event this year into a one-day walking challenge. We were delighted to see so many new faces taking part and to welcome back seasoned White Horse Challenge walkers. It is our pleasure to support Wiltshire Air Ambulance, who are one of our 2019 Charities of the Year and we look forward to our 2020 event.”
Valerie Whistler, partnerships coordinator at Wiltshire Air Ambulance said, “What an absolutely fantastic day! The White Horse Walk was fabulous, a well organised 13.1 mile walk, starting and finishing at the lovely Blackland Health Club and Camping site, through the glorious Wiltshire countryside on a lovely sunny day, what could be nicer? Everyone had a super time in the relaxed and happy atmosphere and after enjoying and exerting themselves on the walk, enjoyed a delicious BBQ generously provided by Rapid Relief Team, Chippenham. Thank you to Rygor for organising such a fantastic way to help raise the vital funds that keeps Wiltshire Air Ambulance saving lives. I’m already looking forward to next year!”
