Available with engine tunnels of both 320 mm and 170 mm the CompactSpace M-cabs are characterised by their low roof and minimal overall height, offering maximum flexibility for many mission-specific operations, and ideal for concrete pumps. Along with this, they offer easy access, high levels of interior comfort and excellent visibility, with the option of a fold down occasional bunk where required.
Available as S-, M- and L-Cabs with engine tunnels of 320mm and 170mm, plus an L-Cab version with flat floor, ClassicSpace cabs are offer lightness, easy access, compact exterior dimensions, excellent visibility and driver comforts. The standard roof height provides an excellent working environment whilst retaining a low overall vehicle height, and access to the tightest of spaces.
Designed with comfort and economy in mind, the StreamSpace cabs make the most of their aerodynamic shape. Available in two widths – 2500 mm wide with a flat floor, or 2300 mm wide with 320 mm or 170 mm engine tunnel and also available with a flat floor, unique to Mercedes-Benz in a 2300 mm wide package. StreamSpace cabs offer a large amount of space and ease of access alongside the option of two beds or a second row of seats.
The 2500 mm wide BigSpace cab offers almost 2 metres of headroom and exceptional living and storage space. A wide range of options are available to aid productivity and safety, whilst retaining the same ergonomic yet rugged design as the smaller cabs in the range.
The Arocs is available with a choice of four engine displacements and 16 power ratings from 175 kW (238 hp) to 460 kW (625 hp), each designed for maximum fuel efficiency, maximum torque and driveability, low noise & emissions and a long life with unsurpassed reliability. All ratings are offered complying with the most stringent Euro VI emissions standard, helping you to future-proof your business.
All are designed for economy, and the Arocs delivers outstanding fuel savings of up to 4% at Euro VI (compared to the already frugal predecessors) and a 40% reduction in AdBlue consumption. Just one of the impressive credentials, and on the OM 47x 10.7, 12.8 and 15.6 l engines this impressive figure can be attributed in part to the X-Pulse common-rail high-pressure injection system which injects fuel into the cylinders at up to 2,100 bar.
In addition to saving on fuel, the new truck engines will save in other areas with reduced AdBlue consumption of up to 40% reduction with Euro VI, reduced maintenance costs, and increased design life.
Arocs gearboxes offer comfort, slick shifting, efficient power transmisison and improved efficiency.
Fast shift times come as standard, but the features that make Mercedes-Benz’ PowerShift 3 the automatic choice include a manoeuvring mode, automatic holding of gears downhill, rocking mode to free a stuck truck, EcoRoll to save fuel when heading downhill, and the choice of switching between three normal driving modes on every truck – even on the move.
Although Mercedes-Benz PowerShift 3 automated transmissions are fitted as standard to all Arocs, there are a range of 9- and 16-speed manual gearboxes available. For operators that prefer a manual shift, they are tuned to provide virtually loss-free power transmission as well as very smooth gearchanging, with pneumatic assistance on all models.
Turbo Retarder Clutch
The Turbo Retarder Clutch provides wear free starting and braking under extreme loads. Combining the benefits of a hydrodynamic clutch and a primary retarder in a single component, it makes it possible to move away with maximum control, minimum fuel consumption and no wear – and all of this with full torque and no time limitations.
Arocs offers a huge variety of axles to suit your application down to the ground – literally!
Whether driven or non-driven, the straight beam front axles used across the Arocs range are available as 7.5t, 8.0 t or 9.0 t to suit your application, in standard height and raised versions
Differential locks are also available on driven versions for increased traction
A wide range of application focussed rear axles is available across the Arocs range, whether high efficiency hypoid axles for on-road biased work or heavy duty planetary axles for increased ground clearance and higher capacities, a wide range of axle ratios and axle load capacities up to 16 t are on offer. All have differential locks as standard operated by an intuitive rotary switch, and proven through-drive versions are also available for vehicles with more than one driven axle.
In addition, leading and trailing axles are available in the same wide variety of capacities as the front axles, and in many cases can chosen to steer, lift or both.
All Wheel Drive
When extra traction is needed, Arocs delivers. From a payload focussed 4×4 to an extreme duty 8×8 tipper, there are options to suit every job. Permanent 2-speed all-wheel drive systems are available for the heaviest of tasks, as well as a lighter, more compact single speed system.
The chart below shows the standard axle configurations available as Arocs. As well as being available in left and right hand drive, many of these configurations are available in different variants, ask our salesteam for more information.
To get traction on difficult terrain, flexibility is the key. With this in mind, off-road focussed Arocs come with a high strength but highly flexible frame. A width of 744 mm and 8 or 9 mm fine grained high strength steel give a chassis designed to perform – and to last. For use predominantly on-road, Arocs is also available with a frame 834 mm wide and thickness of 7 or 8 mm, making it more rigid and offering the perfect combination of driving dynamics, torsional flexibility and payload.
A complete offering of wheelbases at 300 mm intervals, plus freely selectable rear overhangs and a full hole matrix on the chassis rails means that Arocs is configurable for your application right from the start, reducing bodybuilding costs and delays, without any requirement for modification.
Depending on the chosen configuration, the Arocs offers outstanding payload without compromising comfort with 2, 3 or 4 leaf steel springs. For extreme loads, multi-leaf packages are also available, along with reinforced anti-roll bars and spring brackets.
For on-road use, the Arocs can be configured with air suspension in most configurations, with the new 4 bellows arrangement offering increased comfort for driver and load, lower noise levels and adjustable heights for loading. If required, higher load variants of the air suspension are also configurable.
The combination of frame and suspension design gives the Arocs exceptional ground clearance. Both approach and departure angles are high, and ground clearance under the axles and chassis mounted equipment prevents grounding and damage when the going gets tough.
