General Saftey Regulations – Truck

At Rygor, we understand the importance of safety to your company, which is why we wanted to make all our customers aware of new truck legislation which will be coming into effect this year.

The Rygor Truck Team recently had the opportunity to meet with Nick Blake, Head of Engineering (Truck), at Mercedes-Benz to gain an insight into the latest regulation updates coming into effect this year.

Lane Departure Warning System

From November 1st 2015, all Mercedes-Benz Trucks will require Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) referred to by Mercedes-Benz as Lane Keeping Assist (S1H).

Vehicle exemptions for Lane Departure Warning System, include:

· Off-road (N2G/N3G)

· Mini-Artic tractor units (3.5-8t GVM)

· Special purpose vehicles

·4 or more axles

Advanced Emergency Braking System

From 1st November 2015 the following will need to have Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) to Level 1 referred to by Mercedes-Benz as Active Brake Assist (S1P):

· All Mercedes-Benz Trucks over 12t with Air suspension (N3)

· All Mercedes-Benz Trucks between 8t and 12t with Air suspension (N2)

Mercedes-Benz AEBS exceeds the minimum requirement and already meets Level 2, Level 3 is available as an option

Vehicles which are exempt from AEBS (Advanced Emergency Braking System):

· Off-road (N2G/N3G)

· Mini-Artic tractor units (3.5-8t GVM)

· Special purpose vehicles

· 4 or more axles

· All vehicles with rear steel suspension until 1st November 2018
