Fuel Challenger set to be even greater success…

Thursday 16th July 2015

…with new 2nd Generation OM471 Engine

Last year Mercedes-Benz launched The Fuel Challenger programme, which invited operators to put an Actros demonstrator to work alongside their own vehicles, and measure their diesel consumption side by side. The aim was to prove beyond all doubt that as well as being the smartest, most reliable and driver-friendly truck on the road, the Actros is a winner at the pumps too.

The Fuel Challenger tractor units wear a highly visible and distinctive white and green livery and all are fitted with Daimler FleetBoard telematics equipment that provides mercilessly accurate appraisals of fuel consumption.

The results showed a brilliant success rate for the New Actros, winning more than 90% of Fuel Challenges with an average of 10.2% fuel advantage over the competition.

Mercedes-Benz has announced that the new generation OM471 engine for the New Actros will be available as of October 2015 production and is set to continue this success in The Fuel Challenger.

The new generation of OM471 has been optimised to deliver more performance and lower consumption, with advanced combustion, lower friction and optimised Euro VI management.

The Fuel Challenger programme will continue into 2016 and will feature the 2nd generation OM471 engine. For more information on Fuel Challenger including demonstrator bookings, contact your local Rygor Truck Sales Executive – visit the find us page for details or email: info@rygor.co.uk.
