Dealer Group Gets into Gear for Charity Cycle Challenge

The team at Rygor has well and truly got the wheels in motion when it comes to fundraising for its 2018 Charities of the Year.

Team members from the Westbury branch of the Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealer group came together this month to take part in a showroom cycle challenge, where they collectively pedalled more than 620km across the day in aid of Camp Mohawk, Shooting Star Chase and Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Shooting Star Chase which is near the Dealer’s Heathrow branch, provides hospice care to babies, children and young people in London and Surrey and Camp Mohawk near Rygor Reading, is a multi-functional day centre for children with special needs and their families in Berkshire. Wiltshire Air Ambulance provides an essential Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) in Wiltshire and surrounding areas and is a charity close to the heart of the company’s team members at its headquarters in Westbury, Wiltshire.

The Rygor team’s efforts saw them raise in excess of £800, which will go towards their annual £6,000 fundraising target for the three worthwhile causes.

Jon Green from Club 24 Fitness in Westbury, who kindly donated the bikes for the challenge, said: “We were delighted to work with Rygor again for the second year running. To raise money for great charities and get people fit at the same time is something we love to be able to offer at Club 24 Fitness.”

Graham Drake, Rygor owner director who took part in the showroom cycle challenge, said: “Charity events like this one are always great fun and it is fantastic to see the team come together to raise money for our Charities of the Year. The health and wellbeing of our team is an absolute priority, which is why we encourage team events and activities just like the cycle challenge. Furthermore, March was Rygor Wellness Month, where we put the spotlight on the importance of looking after ourselves and living a healthy life by sharing our team’s own health and wellbeing stories.”

Alex Rennie, head of corporate engagement at Shooting Star Chase, said: “A big thank you to everyone at Rygor, whose fundraising efforts make such a difference to local families with a life limited child or teenager. We rely on the support of local individuals and companies like Rygor to help us raise the £10 million we need every year to maintain our vital care services.”

Annabel Hill, fundraiser at Camp Mohawk, said: "What an amazing result by everyone who took part in the Rygor charity cycle challenge - special needs children at Camp Mohawk were pedal-pushing mini-tractors and dumpster trucks here in support of your efforts and sent their huge thanks to you all!"

Valerie Whistler, partnerships coordinator at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: “We had great fun kicking off the Rygor Cycling Challenge by riding bike number 3 for the first hour. We would like to thank everyone at Rygor, our charity of the year partner, for taking part in the challenge and managing to raise a lot of sponsorship from the event. Every penny raised goes towards the £8,904 we need each day to keep our helicopter flying and saving lives.”
